Energy storage and project finance in Africa and the US
Last month, I participated on a panel discussing the financing of cleantech deployments in Africa at the heavily attended US Commercial Service’s Discover Global Markets: Sustainable Solutions conference.
There were a number of points of connection from my presentation (PDF) that the audience shared with me and I want to share two of them with you:
1) Competitive energy storage is ready today and is especially relevant when numbers from commercial projects can be shared. (I made a point to share numbers that are not from demonstration projects.)
2) Engagement models need to be realistic. (This is country, technology, and risk specific and customer-responsive.)
There are a number of other worthy presentations available on the conference website. Readers may be especially interested in the presentations from International Finance Corporation, Climate Policy Initiative, and OPIC during the “Making It Rain: Financing Sustainability around the Globe” panel.

Thanks Sis Linda. Regards to Tata Nape & Chris Pugh (I assume that he’s still around).
I will pass your regards along to both!
